Meet Beethoven with Piano：Episode 8: Mary Wu / Hok-chun Chung

Beethoven has had a profound impact on the world, earning him the title of "maestro of the classical music realm." By listening to his works, one can sense his unwavering determination and gain a positive outlook on life.

In this joint production by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Radio Television Hong Kong, 32 virtuoso pianists take you on a journey to meet Beethoven with piano.

In this episode, the following works have been selected for the audience's enjoyment:
- Piano Sonata No. 21 in C, Op. 53, ‘Waldstein’, 1st movement: Allegro con brio (Mary Wu)
- Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57, No. 2, 'Appassionata', 1st movement: Allegro assai (Hok-chun Chung)

Mary Wu has received various awards in competitions, including the prestigious Chappell Gold Medal from the Royal College of Music in the United Kingdom, Concerto Prize, Harpsichord Prize, Royal Overseas League Competition in London, and the Mozart Bicentenary International Competition , where she won the championship.

Hok-chun Chung is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln , under the guidance of Professor Fabio Bidini . He has performed around the world and has won awards in various international competitions, including the Karlrobert Kreiten Competition in Germany and the Sardoal International Piano Competition , where he achieved first place.
