Michael Jackson HIStory Statue Unveiled at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas - Unravel Travel TV

Performers from the Circue du Soleil show Michael Jackson ONE perform while a statue of the late performer is unveiled in the lobby of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The unveiling of Michael Jackson’s iconic HIStory Statue, took place in the Mandalay Bay’s Main Lobby on Thursday 28th July 2016. Jerry Nadal, Senior Vice President, Resident Shows Division at Cirque du Soleil Darren Davis, Mandalay Bay Vice President of Entertainment.by a performance to “SCREAM”, the first single from the HIStory album created specially for this event by some of the cast members of Michael Jackson ONE Michael Jackson’s vision for the artwork of his legendary HIStory album was to appear as a giant statue. In 1994, he commissioned American sculptor Diana Walczak to create the statue, which became the inspiration for the cover image of his fifth solo album HIStory: Past, Present and Future Book 1. The acclaimed album became the biggest selling multiple disc album worldwide. The 10-foot-tall statue was featured at stops on Michael’s HIStory Tour On loan from the Estate of Michael Jackson, the statue is the third piece of memorabilia to be loaned by the Estate for display on the Mandalay Bay property; the other 2 pieces, Michael’s red and gold military style jacket from his appearance at the 1984 American Music Awards and a pair of his iconic black loafers and crystal-encrusted white socks, are currently on display in cases adjacent to the Michael Jackson ONE Boutique. An additional historical Jackson item to be loaned by the Estate will be revealed on Saturday, Aug. 27, to kick-off a three-day birthday celebration event planned for The King of Pop inside the ONE theatre. This will be the 4th annual celebration organized by the Estate and Michael Jackson ONE for Michael’s birthday.
