Episode 2
Embracing Life
"people think that you will be happy if you are rich and own cars and properties. However, having gone through many obstacles, I think that happiness is not to possess things you want, but to get rid of unwanted things. A person will be happy if he / she is free from worries and hardships, and ties and attachments.”
Josephine had been working in the aviation industry for many years. In the early years of work, she flew around the world as a flight attendant. In recent years, she stationed in Hong Kong to train new recruits. As a typical workaholic, she had never thought of quitting her job. However, she was diagnosed with a rarely seen osteosarcoma and she had to go on a hiatus to focus on the treatment. To her surprise, the 1 cm sarcoma at her sole was a fatal tumour. The doctor advised Josephine to amputate part of her foot in order to save her life. Knowing that she would need to undergo amputation, Josephine could barely imagine how she would spend the rest of her life. She was worried about her two young children, and was afraid of living in a wheelchair. She cried for 3 days and nights before finally accepting that the only way out was to receive treatment as soon as possible, thus arranges amputation, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Josephine’s mother suggests that Josephine’s family can live with her, so that she can take care of Josephine and her grandchildren. The calm and quiet life of Josephine’s parents turns into a bustling life with 7 people living together. The strike of cancer brings radical change to the lives of Josephine and her family and friends, but they consider that this battle against cancer brings more than tears when they recall it later. They all learn to cherish life better, and understand that people exist not only to survive, but to live a good life.
