Episode 7
The Three of Us
“There is no need to be rich and famous, as long as the whole family is healthy and together, it is happiness.”
Kowie, a single mother, has two daughters aged 20 and 16. She has encountered countless setbacks in the past 16 years. Only with her two daughters can she shook herself up and overcame difficulties one after another.
Kowie reunited with her secondary school classmate when she was 24, and then the two dated and got married, and the family of four lived happily. However, half a year after the birth of the youngest daughter, her husband had an affair. And unfortunately, Kowie also discovered that she had cervical cancer at the same time. Suffering from illness and facing marital problem, she had thought of jumping off a building to commit suicide, but finally the two daughters awakened her will to survive and dispelled her desire to die.
Kowie was abandoned by her husband. Not only did she not getting better, but her employer also persuaded her to leave her job. She and her two daughters had to rely on financial assistance. The eldest daughter Piaf, who was only six years old at the time, had to help take care of her seriously ill mother and her less than one year old younger sister Eden. Unfortunately, difficulties always gone after Kowie – Piaf and Eden had been diagnosed with autism and hyperactivity respectively. Faced with the emotional problems of the two daughters, Kowie decided to join the parents’ group of their school(s), hoping to enter the campus and give her daughters appropriate help. Later, she actively participated in school affairs and volunteer activities. In 2018, she was selected as one of the top ten outstanding parents.
The two daughters look up to their mother as their role model, not only do they like to help other people, they also like to proactively broaden their horizons. They are awarded scholarships to exchange programmes in foreign countries, and they promised to take good care of their mother in the future. Kowie is very proud and pleased to witness her daughters’ achievements. She thinks that the family affection among the three of them is far more important than anything else. We shall let their happiness inspire us.
