We all had read children’s comics, hadn’t we? These pure and cute comics do not only refresh us during our busy school life, but also accompany us to grow up. Each generation of children have some comic books of their time and those characters and stories will become their collective memories in the future.

In this episode of “Hong Kong Stories”, our host cum comic artist Justin WONG will visit two local children’s comic artist: KEUNG Chi-kit and YU Yuen-wong, to understand how their creations resonate with the little readers and the current development situation of local children’s comics.

KEUNG Chi-kit’s major work “Samba” illustrates in a relaxing and humorous manner the interesting and funny experiences of Samba, a person from the wild, in the city. YU Yuen-wong becomes famous with his comic adaptation of the Japanese animation “Digimon”. His other works include “Sherlock Holmes”, “Detective Bao” and “The Story of Monsters”. The two comic artists have joined the comic industry for more than a decade. They have been working hard with their pens to bring laughter to the children of different generations.

In recent years, local children’s comics gradually transform into teaching tools for survival. However, such transformation inevitably makes the comics less entertaining and creative. While compromising, how can the two comic artists persist in providing the pleasure of reading comics to the new generation of children? Today’s Hong Kong is rapidly changing. For the two comic artists targeting children, what are their imaginations towards the future of Hong Kong?
