PIRLO and GIOVINCO OFF Italy EUROS Roster Because They Play in the MLS?

Andrea Pirlo and Sebastian Giovinco were left off the Italy EUROS 2016 roster after manager Conte cited that they opted to play in the MLS. Conte felt that the level of competition in the MLS, as compared to that of the European leagues, was not as strong, and therefore he wanted only the most ready 30-man roster.
"I spoke to Andrea," Conte said on Tuesday. "I sent people to America for seven days to evaluate him and Sebastian. It's clear that if you make such choices in football then at the end you might pay the consequences. We had people in Europe and abroad in order to get very clear ideas."
