金門曾經是台灣國民政府反攻大陸的前哨基地，自2001年海峽兩岸實現小規模通商、通郵及通航的「小三通」開始，這裡的特殊地理位置及歷史背景，令她成為兩岸交流合作的橋頭堡，是兩岸政府積極拉攏的對象。

過去十多年，金門在「小三通」之下，當地民眾的生活面貌，帶來不少改變，大陸遊客推動金門的觀光產業。不過，今年初國家主席習近平提出可以率先實現金門、馬祖與福建地區通水、通電、通橋及通氣的「新四通」概念，台灣當局擺出強硬的姿態表明拒絕任何被中國統一的過渡性安排。面對兩岸局勢持續緊張，金門一直向大陸打開的大門，會否從此關上?

Kinmen once served as Taiwan's military outpost to counter the forces from mainland China. Since the Mini Three Links, which allows for limited postal, transportation and trade links, was established in 2001, Kinmen has become the bridgehead of the cooperation between the two territories. A place that the governments from both sides keep trying to win over.

While the local government is encouraging a joint effort to help boost the economy, mainland China is also purposing measures that will be benefiting Taiwan and its people. As the influence upon Kinmen from mainland China increases, will the young Kinmen natives accept such a change? Will Kinmen become a testing ground for implementing "One Country, Two Systems model for Taiwan"?
