#Sugar is #essential in cooking. It can be the culinary star in desserts, but can also help bring a balance of taste to savoury dishes. A local Chinese restaurant has re-created a well-known dish from #Zhejiang province called “steamed sliced ham in honey sauce”. The honey sauce is created by cooking #osmanthus with white sugar together, and it serves to enhance the flavour of the ham. Chinese desserts also pay great attention to the presentation, with #caramelised fruit fritter as one of the most outstanding. First, white sugar and water is cooked into a syrup. It is then hand-pulled into fine threads, showcasing the chef’s skill.
